Can Ducati get the win tomorrow?
A perfect day for Pecco, as he absolutely nailed the lap, right when it counted, and no one could get anywhere near him! Despite the technical nature of the track, power is clearly all important here, and even in the race tomorrow, Ducati look very promising for a win! Miller is alongside his teammate, and will fancy his chances of getting his 3rd win of the year.
It was all about the last sector for Fabio, as everywhere else he was on pace with the Ducati’s. We knew the long straight would hurt him, but it is surprising that the long final corner doesn’t suit him either. With tyre wear looking pretty good for the Ducati’s, it may be difficult for Quartararo to get amongst the front runners, as they will blast past him on the straights!
Marquez is in a very ominous position at the head of the 2nd row, he could well have the pace to match the Italian bikes out front, and possibly do something special in the closing laps of the race! Martin was unable to pull out another stellar qualifying lap, although 5th as a rookie is pretty incredible! Aleix Espargaro yet again gets the bike on the first 2 rows, where anything is possible in the race. Much like Fabio, power is his major Achilles heel!
Mir starting 7th means he has a chance of a good result tomorrow, his aim must be to beat Quartararo, if he has any hope of getting consecutive championships! Pol Espargaro, Bastiannini and Zarco did well to reach Q2, whilst Nakagami and Binder are in the right place to move forwards in the race.
Lecuona just missed out on Q2, as he tries to advertise his services to get a seat possibly in Superbikes. Alex Marquez couldn’t quite perform after looking very good earlier in the weekend. On the other hand, Crutchlow did everything that Yamaha could expect from him as a test rider, as he got very close to reaching Q2.
Vinales did improve overnight, although he still ended up down in 19th on the grid, however all the pace seemed to disappear in the last sector, otherwise it looks very promising for the future! Rins had a terrible day, on the track he won at last year, as he starts 13 places behind Mir. Dixon may still be last, but given it is the oldest bike on the grid, he has shown off his skills very well!
